After much soul searching and prayer, I have decided to make this blog more spiritually oriented with thoughts on Christian belief, theology, and faith. I will attempt to leave all the political blogging to those who (hopefully) are much more knowledgeable in that field than I. I am not trying to restrict myself in what I share at this site, but I believe I would better serve my Lord by not harping on politics all the time. Besides, the more I dwell on politics, the more negative I tend to be. If I feel real energetic someday, maybe I will start another blog elsewhere and go off on negative political rants there.
Of course, I reserve the right to talk about whatever subject I wish. After all, it is my blog.
Tymetraveler's Take is my "take" on numerous subjects and the world in general. This is a place for me to just "think out loud".

A Person of Character
I have always admired Sarah Palin since she first broke on to the national scene over two years ago, and my admiration and respect for her has grown in recent days. After viewing many interviews and speeches by the former governor from Alaska, I am convinced of one thing: she is a person of character. Coincidentally, what is lacking in the leadership of our country currently is character. I do not care what one's politics may be, when it comes to good character, this woman has it. If Ms. Palin were to run for president in 2012, would she be electable? I don't know. The vicious, negative, personal attacks directed her way, I'm sure, have taken their toll to a certain extent (quite unfairly I might add). Does she have the experience to take on the job? No less than the current resident of the White House IMHO....actually she has much more. If Sarah Palin were to decide to run for president and then actually get elected, I do not doubt she would rise to the occasion and do the job well.

Thought for the Day
To refuse the gospel call of Jesus Christ is not to decline and invitation, but is to defy the summons of God.

A Rebellious People
One cannot not escape it. If you read the news on a daily basis, it is more than evident this country is in trouble. How did we get to where we are now? Is there anyone to blame? People, it is a disease of the heart. Hear the word of the Lord:
And now, go, write it before them on a tablet and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come as a witness forever. For they are a rebellious people, lying children, children unwilling to hear the instruction of the LORD; who say to the seers, "Do not see," and to the prophets, "Do not prophesy to us what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophesy illusions, leave the way, turn aside from the path, let us hear no more about the Holy One of Israel."--Isaiah 30:8-11
It may not be a direct warning to America, but the principle is definitely applicable. The wisdom and insight found in the word of God is there to help, guide, and direct us. It is not just good words written down on paper either. The word is living and is the power of God unto salvation. Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit before it is too late.

Dealing with the Enemy
When it comes to the controversial proposed mosque in New York City or any dealings with the sons of Ishmael:
"If favor is shown to the wicked, he does not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness he deals corruptly and does not see the majesty of the LORD. O LORD, your hand is lifted up, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people, and be ashamed. Let the fire for your adversaries consume them."--Isaiah 26:10-11
We are free in Christ to live the life to which He has called us, and He will fight and defeat the enemy of His people.

The Aging Process
I have noticed in recent years (just the last five actually) that even though the physical body is deteriorating with the onset of age, the mind, for the most part, seems to stay the same. I have shared with others many times how I "feel like a 25-year old in a 60-year old body" (I am not quite 60 years old yet...it's just a nice round number). I remember my mom telling me the same thing about her experience. It can be very frustrating. There are also exceptions to having "the mind of a 25-year old", as I am experiencing short-term memory loss on more frequent occasions. Does a person in this situation go sit in the corner, cry and feel sorry for themselves? Of course not. It all reminds me that time is short and I best be about whatever God has put me here to do. Now, I believe that some things have been accomplished over the past 60 years and anything that is worthy of any kind of praise is not my doing, but the Lord's. I believe there is much more for me to do in His Kingdom and I sense I am at a crossroads in my life.
It is official: I am renewing my quest to find God's will for what is left of my life.

God Will See Us Through
[56:1] Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me;
all day long an attacker oppresses me;
[2] my enemies trample on me all day long,
for many attack me proudly.
[3] When I am afraid,
I put my trust in you.
[4] In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?
(Psalm 56:1-4 ESV)
May God guide our steps as we face the challenging days ahead in our country.

They ARE Blind
Wow! Had an interesting conversation with a couple of people on FB today. One individual told me that the beliefs of the GOP and Tea Party do not coincide with the beliefs of conservative Christians. I agree I don't go along with everything in the Republican party. For Pete's sake, that's why I am not a Republican in the first place. But it is obvious to any sane person that some politically conservative ideas will coincide with conservative Christian beliefs. There must really be a "kool aid" out there after all. Am I that clueless? Maybe liberalism really is a mental disorder.

Concerning Attacks on Sarah Palin
Recent comments I've seen concerning the unfounded personal attacks against Sarah Palin by the political left:
"She smiles while their (liberals) blood boils."
"She lives rent-free in the tiniest of impotent and limp and gutless, liberal minds."
Good stuff. It's fun to watch idiots spit in the ocean.

Meltdown Time
It's really entertaining watching all the lib commentators on MSNBC and elsewhere lose their grip as their messiah's poll numbers plummet and their spewing of vitriol and spreading lies after Glenn Beck's Restoring Honor event in DC this past weekend. These haters are moving rapidly into meltdown mode. They cannot discuss issues intelligently. They just make personal attacks. Chris Matthews is even upset with Obama's teleprompter, for crying out loud. Yes, he actually attacked the TOTUS on his show tonight. And how about Sgt.(Ed)Schultz? He actually claimed he could draw as big a crowd as Beck did Saturday if he tried...which he won't. This is all very surreal!
